Be Skeptical - Question Prospects about these 3 Things.

I see that a lot of service providers, therapists, coaches, consultants, they get excited, happy, and eager to work with someone if someone is reaching out to them or talking to them or even kind of talking about some of the issues that they are experts in.

And I see this often push away people who could be clients. This eagerness, this excitement, this happiness, like, oh my gosh, I'm gonna get a new client. Yes, yes, I can help you. Yes, let's work together.

In my experience, it's much better to be, to come from a place of being skeptical.

When you're first talking to someone, I recommend you be skeptical. The first thing we're looking for is, do they have the problems that I can fix.

So even if someone reaches out to you and they're like, hey, I'd like to work with you.

I'm going to be skeptical. I'm going to ask to find out do you have the problems I can fix that I'm an expert in? I'm going to be probing for that. I'm gonna be trying to find that out.

But even if they have the problems I can fix, the second thing I'm gonna be skeptical about and probing for is, do they acknowledge and accept that they have these problems.

Because someone could have the problem but totally not buy into the fact that they have them, right? Many people are unaware that they have problems.

So that's the second thing I'm skeptical about. I'm looking at does this person really acknowledge and accept that they have these problems?

And then even if they're doing that, the third thing I'm going to be skeptical about, the next thing is, I'm going to probe, do they want to fix these problems?

Are they really committed to fixing these problems?

Are these problems big enough that this person is saying, yes, I need to do something about this now?

So I'm gonna be skeptical about all three of these things and really ask questions and probe to find that out right away.
